Hendrik Morkel over on twitter (@hendrikmorkel) posted some of the first images of a new ultralight sleeping pad from Thermarest called the NeoAir UberLite. You can see his post below:

According to his post it weighs 240 grams (8.46 ounces), has an r-value of 2 and comes in three lengths.

CaliHiker According to his post it weighs 240 grams (8.46 ounces)

That is an interesting weight.... If that weight holds true. It weighs less than the really odd looking Klymit Inertia X Frame. The Klymit Inertia X I doubt has any substantial R-value based on its design too. The Klymit Inertia X Frame weighs 240 grams (8.5 ounces).

MikeJones They may be around the same weight but I would like to see them compared side by side rolled up. I bet the Klymit Inertia probably packs down smaller?

But I definitely agree the Thermarest NeoAir UberLite has a much better R value for the weight.

MikeJones The intro to the video was a whole long 19 seconds but it was nice to see some video shots of the Thermarest NeoAir UberLite.

The mattress actually looks pretty thick for how lite it is, and it was great getting a video of the guy rolling around on it from his back to his side. It doesn't look like he was bottom out at all.

My only concern for this will be durability.

Looks like Outside Online is at the Outdoor Retail Summer Market Expo and they are reporting that the Thermarest NeoAir UberLite will be available Spring 2019... Wish it was a bit sooner but we will see.

Outside Online just published a review of the NeoAir UberLite.

Some interesting takeaways from the article linked to in the above paragraph. Apparently there is a super lightweight sleeping bag that goes with it:

The pad pairs with Therm-A-Rest's new 900-fill Vesper quilt to create a complete sleep system that’s unprecedentedly small and light. That 32-degree quilt (also pictured in long) packs down to the size of a cantaloupe, and weighs just 15 ounces for a size regular and 17 for the long.

Also looks like Thermarest has addressed the loud crinkly noise of some of their older pads:

The 2.5-inch thick UberLite is built similarly to the other NeoAirs, making it just as comfortable a surface to lay on. But it does without the crinkly insulation, making it far less noisy. It does that while retaining an R-Value of 2.0, which should be plenty warm down to temps just below freezing.
