I know a lot of people these days are buying fabric to sew their own outdoor gear and backpacks, but what about 3D printing your outdoor gear? Digital trends has an interesting article on 3d printed backpacking and camping gear you can print at home.

Here are links to the item you can 3d print:

I kind of wish I had a 3d Printer now, these would be fun. I think there are a lot more possibilities for small hiking or backpacking items we could create easily at home with 3d printers too.

A really cool concept, but a lot of camping gear needs to be strong. I could see the Carabiner 3d printed great for just using as a "clip" on your backpack or belt. You obviously wouldn't use the 3d printed plastic carabiner for climbing....

I honestly do not know enough about 3d printing, but are there consumer 3d printers out there that print in metal? It would be awesome to print your own metal stakes and carabiners.
